February Mission Focus
St. Marys Youth Center

Last Sunday you heard from Donna Graham and Amy Jessen talk about the St. Marys Community Youth Center (SMCYC). The center is located at 1055 South Wayne Street in St. Marys.  The center is for youth in grades 6th - 12th.  It is a safe, adult-supervised place for youth to "hang out" with their peers, meet other youth their own age, do homework, and have fun.

They are currently looking for a new location to purchase, somewhere closer into downtown, hoping to cater to more of the youth population.  Over the past year, we have had 642 youth visits.  The SMCYC has pool tables, ping pong tables, foos ball, bumper pool, a basketball game, shuffle board, XBox, play station and a Wii.  There are also computers available for homework.  We also serve pizza, hot dogs, chips, candy, and there is pop, milk and water also available.  The youth center is also open to the community for family gatherings, parties, baby/bridal showers, etc.  We take donations for use of center.  They said they have been very blessed by having Experience Works employees to keep the center open 20 hours per week, and there is a cleaning company that donates their time and supplies to keep the center clean.

If you would like to make a monetary donation please mark your giving Youth Center. If you have any other questions or comments, please contact Donna Graham, Executive Director SMCYC at
419-305-5915.

The mission team thanks you for your support on this mission project.

dinnerHELP NEEDED FOR WEDNESDAY NIGHT COMMUNITY DINNER AT GRACE UMC
The Mission Team will be making and serving a meal, one Wednesday a month, at Grace United Methodist Church.   If this is something you think you might enjoy doing, please give me a call at 419-394-5980 or 419-953-8708.   They tell me they serve anywhere from 135-150 people each week.   We will begin cooking around 2:00 in the afternoon and should be finished with clean-up around 6:30pm.
I look forward to hearing from you so that I can get a good list of people to call on.
Thanks!        Barb Fitzgerald
