There are ways for everyone to help, or just come and join the group. (Watch for more in upcoming March Messenger) Call Barb Fitzgerald today for more information 419-394-5980
.West Ohio Conference update on Tornados
From: Deanna Stickley-Miner / Subject: Ohio Tornado
The storm system that swept through the Midwest and SE US impacted the West Ohio Conference. Moscow, Ohio was hit extensively. There is a five county area that was impacted. This is what I can tell you.... 257 houses have been destroyed or have sustained major damage/ 3 fatalities / Initial assessments indicate that about 50% of affected people do not have insurance. We are assessing if ERT teams are going to be needed. Long term recovery teams will be needed in the near future.

GUATEMALA MISSION TRIP
The upcoming trip to Guatemala is fast approaching. We will be leaving June 11, 2012 and returning on June 19, 2012. There are only two of us going this time; Alex Rompilla and myself. Our destination is La Campana, Darwin’s home town. We are eager to witness the ongoing progress Darwin is making with his leg. Our mission’s goal is to pour a cement floor in a church in Darwin’s community. There are many new believers in this area, thanks to Pam and Bart’s efforts to spread the Gospel. The needs in this area are great. Bart and Pam have asked us to bring a few items with us. These are Children’s Tylenol and ibuprofen (Advil or Motrin) as well as Reina Valera or Biblia delas Americas Spanish Bibles (RVR). Our Wayne Street family can help by donating unopened container of Children’s Tylenol or ibuprofen (Advil or Motrin) in the basket marked Guatemala Mission Trip in the Fellowship Hall. At present, we are ordering 24 Bibles, more may be ordered. A donation to cover the cost of each Bible is $2.95. Mark you check or envelopes “Guatemala Missions”and place in offering plate Sunday morning or send to the church office. Thanks for your continued support; Alex Rompilla and Brad Goodwin
Mattresses for H.I.S. Home Orphanage,
Port-au-Prince, Haiti
We are currently collecting funds for the mattresses for the baby cribs and toddler beds at the orphanage. As stated in our presentation, 40 waterproof mattresses will be needed to replace the deteriorating foam rubber mattresses currently in place.
At $40 per mattress, the total = $1600. An anonymous donor has graciously issued a matching donation challenge of $800. That put us half way to the goal! We have also received other donations, as well. The mattresses will be shipped by ocean container in July. Since we need time to get them ordered and delivered to the container for packing, we would like to have all donations by Memorial Day.
Our WSUMC youth are also involved in raising funds to purchase crib sheets that we can include on the shipment.
Every few dollars counts, so please support this effort if you can. Please indicate HIS Home mattresses with your contribution.
For more information, contact any mission team member
or Julie Kraner at 419-305-3561.
Isn’t it awesome what we can accomplish when we pull together to work for God and carry out His plan?
Thank you!
The Mission Team
Family Life Center Needs Your Printer Cartridges
The Family Life Center is still collecting printer cartridges and cell phones that will be turned in order to be able to purchase other inject cartridges for the center. Currently we are accepting any and all cell phones and only HP and Lexmark printer cartridges. There is a basket on the missions table for the cartridges and the cell phones. Every cartridge helps us. Over the last five years we have earned over $1300 in which to buy cartridges and other office supplies. Instead of recycling them to the companies, give them to us where they will make a real difference.
EVER WONDER ABOUT THE
THINGS WE SAVE AND WHERE THEY ARE SENT?
- PROOFS OF PURCHASE FROM CAMPBELL’S PRODUCTS – usually bar codes. These are sent to Red Bird Mission, Henderson Settlement in KY or to McCurdy School in New Mexico. Red Bird Mission has received several 15 passenger vans using these.
- BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION – sent to the same places as above. These can be used to purchase School supplies and equipment.
- TABS FROM POP CANS. These are taken to McDonalds where they are sold and the proceeds used to help support Ronald McDonalds Houses.
- CANCELLED POSTAGE STAMPS – sent to an orphanage in Norway. They sell them to collectors and use the proceeds to help support the orphanage.
- GROCERY COUPONS up to 4 months beyond the expiration date. These are sent to military bases all over the world. They can use them up to 6 months beyond the expiration date.
- KROGER REGISTER RECEIPTS can be put in a box in the entrance at Krogers to support MRDD.
- PANTRY PRIDE REGISTER RECEIPTS can also be placed in a box in their entrance to support MRDD.
It doesn’t take much effort or time to save
these items and they do so much good for others.
