Youth Center News:
Opening: February 7, 2012
Times: Every Tuesday and Thursday, 3:30 to 6:00pm
Place: Youth Area (3rd Floor), Wayne Street UMC
Enter through the HIGH STREET Parking Lot. The center will be open to 6th through 12 grade students. We will have tutoring available at your request. We need volunteers to keep the center open. Two volunteers per day are needed.

United Methodist Dollars for Scholars Program
Each year through the United Methodist Dollars for Scholars (UMDFS) program, the United Methodist Higher Education Foundation (UMHEF) provides $1,000 matching scholarships to United Methodist students who have received a $1,000 scholarship from their local United Methodist church to help them attend a United Methodist-related college, university or seminary.
The Finance Committee of Wayne Street United Methodist Church has established a restricted fund to receive donations so we can support students from our congregation who attend a UMC related school with a “Dollars for Scholars” scholarship. Contributions can be made to “WSUMC” designated to “Dollars for Scholars”.
Students interested in receiving a scholarship must fill out a Wayne Street UMC application which can be picked up at the information table and must be turned in no later than January 29, 2012. |

The student ministry is hosting a fundraising dinner on Saturday, FEBRUARY 11, to raise money for summer camp scholarships and other activities. The first dinner setting will be at 5:00, followed by another at 7:30. Both dinners with include live music performed by our students. Ticket prices are: $10 for 60+, $15 per person, $25 per couple, or $100 for a table of 8. More details to follow. See Shawn with questions.
Disaster Response Preparedness Training
Early Response Team Training: Seven‐eight hour training session to equip individuals to go into disaster areas as soon as it is safe for volunteers to enter into the area. Training includes how to help survivors sift through debris, how to tarp roofs, safe removal of debris and how to interact with people who have been traumatized. Background checks are a requirement for credentialing. |
February Mission Focus
Family Life Center of Auglaize County
Cups of Blessings
The Mission focus for February will be the Family Life Center of Auglaize County and their Cups of Blessings Program. This year the Family Life Center’s focus will be on the “Save A Beating Heart Campaign.” They are raising funds to purchase an ultrasound machine so that the abortion vulnerable and abortion minded clients who come to the center will have the choice to see their child and hear its heartbeat as early as 8 weeks. It has been shown that approximately 60% of the women that are contemplating abortion will choose life for their child after seeing and hearing their child in the womb.
The Cups of Blessings will be available after church this Sunday and will need to come back in by the end of February. Please take a cup, put in your extra change and you will have the chance to save a precious life. |
